Day after day of gloomy weather and it seems like winter will go on forever. Then all of a sudden Memorial Day weekend is here, not quite summer, but so close you can feel it in your bones.  You also get the feeling of summer when you see farmers markets and farm stands opening up.
Here in Bucks County, Pa. we are blessed to have many amazing local farmers that work hard all year round making sure we have the freshest produce and food possible. My favorite market is the Wrightstown farmers market on Saturday morning. Many of the local producers come together bringing you the freshest items from their farms.  A wonderful by-product of the farmers market is  the amazing  atmosphere and feeling of connection with your community that can never be recreated in the food store. You will bump into your friends and neighbors, see everyone's children, grandchildren and dogs. Music, coffee, breads, pastries and more it is the perfect way to kick off any weekend.   You can shop for the week and get every kind of locally raised meats, eggs, and all the produce you can imagine.
The beginning of the season always brings fresh berries and that is something to celebrate. What are the locally grown items you get excited about?    I am interested to know if you shop at your local farmers markets and what is in season now.  Please email your comments to me at Laurie@bellahealthyliving.com.
