WALK WITH ME

            Walk With Me..........


Walk With Me is an idea I got from one of my clients. It was a beautiful day and I was checking in with her to see if she had gone for a walk yet.  "I have my sneakers on," she said.


I was not sure what to say so I waited.  "That is a big step for me, " she said.  I told her to hang up, go to the door, go outside, walk around the block and call me when she got back. She went for the walk and it was great. Later we spoke about what was holding her back.
It was a real learning experience for me.  I did not realize how hard it was for people to motivate themselves to get moving.

The benefits of walking are numerous.  I will just name a few, it is free, it stimulates the feel good hormones, digestion and metabolism.   Walking increases respiratory and pulmonary function (if you don't believe me try walking and holding your breath).  Walking on a regular basis can also help reduce blood pressure.  
Walking is what our bodies were designed to do.  It is the most natural form of exercise there is, humans have been walking since the beginning of time.  It is sitting at a desk or a computer that is not natural or comfortable. I will write more about this next week, but for now if you can, get up and go outside for a short or long walk. Then please e-mail me and let me know if it made a difference in your day.  Ten minutes three times a day or a 30 minute walk in the morning or evening will help you live a more vital life.
